I saw another Manchester United game descend into chaos and Erik ten Hag's face said it all

Manchester United suffered their first defeat of the season as they conceded an injury-time winner to Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

Danny Welbeck had given the Seagulls a first-half lead and United rode their luck early in the second half before Amad equalised, cutting inside to finish with the ball deflecting in off a defender.

Alejandro Garnacho then had a goal disallowed when his finish hit Joshua Zirkzee on the line, with the striker trying to get out of the way having slid in to try and convert Bruno Fernandes' cross.

United looked like they were going to earn a hard-fought point but they defended a corner poorly in injury time and left acres of space for Joao Pedro to win it with a header.

Pressing improvements

One of the biggest improvements visible in this team in the first two weeks of the Premier League season is their pressing, both in terms of the structure and how aggressive they are when they do go.

It certainly helps having Fernandes as a false nine, which also creates room for Mason Mount to play just behind him. Both are energetic harriers and Mount's intelligence in the press is a valuable weapon. It was noticeable he was instructing teammates when to follow him against Brighton.

Fernandes twice caused panic from Lewis Dunk when closing him down quicker than expected, with Dunk forced to concede a sloppy corner in the opening stages. United's pressing is winning them possession in dangerous areas this season.
