I spotted Ruben Amorim moment vs Man City that bodes well for Man United
Manchester United are less than a week away from yet another new era and the pressure on this one is perhaps more than any since Sir Alex Ferguson.
Yes, this was likely said before Erik ten Hag arrived, and even perhaps Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but considering the position United sit in the table and the new regime in the boardroom, the appointment of Ruben Amorim needs to work. In some respects, the 39-year-old is an unknown quantity particularly as few English football fans regularly tune in to watch anything in Liga Portugal.
However, United fans will have tuned in, in their droves, to watch Amorim bid farewell to Lisbon against his new, fiercest rivals Manchester City. What they will have witnessed was a demolition job as Sporting's players rose to the occasion to thrash Pep Guardiola's out-of-sorts team.

They turned the screw in a wild 42 seconds of play which ended with Sporting 3-1 up. Gyokeres completed his hat-trick late on from the penalty spot to send Amorim off into the sunset on a high.
But while Lisbon was losing its mind as City were put to the sword, Amorim did not relent. Yes, he allowed himself a brief moment to celebrate but straight afterwards he was back to his tactics board ensuring that his team kept the advantage.
This is in stark contrast to what we have seen from many United managers. Ruud van Nistelrooy nearly did a lap
