I saw what Bruno Fernandes said about Manchester United and INEOS - it puts the Glazers to shame

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed his minority takeover at Manchester United, there has been a feel-good factor around the club.

Compared to the running of the football club by the Glazers prior to INEOS' arrival, United seem in a much better place already. On the football side of things, the appointment of Omar Berrada and the imminent arrival of Dan Ashworth have already revealed their intentions to return to the pinnacle of football.

The redevelopment of Old Trafford is another sign of Ratcliffe's plan to reinstate United as one of the best clubs in world football in every department. However, it's the small details that are most pleasing to see.

Captain Bruno Fernandes has recently revealed that he has met with members of the INEOS Group to discuss the long-term ambitions of the club.

"I've always told the club that I don't want to be promised that we're going to be champions because whatever club I go to, I don't expect to be promised something that they can't fulfil from the start," Fernandes told A BOLA.

"What I've always asked for and what I want from the club is for us to be competitive. This year we haven't been and we don't have to hide it. The season has been below our expectations, below my expectations, at least.

"And I think the club's too, because they're not used to being in these positions. I want to be competitive, I want to compete, I want to win."
