Manchester City got their 2024/25 season under way at Wembley with a penalty shoot-out win over Manchester United at Wembley.

Bernardo Silva's late equaliser cancelled out Alejandro Garnacho's second-half opener to set up a shoot out - where City's goalscorer missed the first effort from 12 yards before Ederson saved from Jadon Sancho to set up a sudden-death scenario and when Jonny Evans missed with United's eighth spot kick to allow Akanji to win the Shield for City. Pep's bottle fury

Pep Guardiola held an on-pitch coaching session during a stoppage just before the break, calling his entire starting XI over and getting his point across with the animated arm movements you'd expect from the manager.
