'I quit my job at Iceland to follow my dreams - now footballers and celebs are wearing my clothes'

Launching a successful business, travelling the globe and purchasing a home all before the age of 20 sounds like a distant fantasy for most.

But James Moore turned that dream into a reality – seeing a clothing line he created as a child now worn by celebrities all around the world.

The 24-year-old, who founded clothing company RMDY, started making clothes when he was just 14 after becoming inspired by other fashion online.

James would spend his weekends getting messy creating tie-dye t-shirts to sell to his friends at school for £12.50 each.

His first collection – consisting of a humble 11 t-shirts and two hats – sold out in just one week, encouraging the young entrepreneur to continue building his brand.

While juggling mounting orders, a job at Iceland and his sixth form studies, James decided to quit education and his supermarket role at the age of 17 to focus on RMDY.

To get his brand noticed, the then teenager reached out to Geordie Shore cast members in a bid to get his clothes featured on the show and their Instagram accounts.

The mission was a success, and before long, RMDY was also being worn by famous Love Islanders.

But James knew his business was really going to take off when he had an influx of orders in 2020. “We did a collection during lockdown in early April and that went crazy,” he told the Manchester Evening News.

“I sold like 200 units in an hour. That was really big. I was like, ‘Wow, I’ve never seen that amount of reaction to anything we’ve done,’ and we just kept building from there.”
