'I played for both Celtic and Rangers – I regret only one thing about my Old Firm switch'

Kenny Miller only holds one regret about crossing the Old Firm divide – and it's not doing playing for both sides.

The former Scotland striker is one of only five post-war players to have turned out for both of Glasgow's giants. But unlike the rest of them, Miller flipped one way and then back to the other.

He left Rangers in 2001 after a solitary season, spending five years in England with Wolves before joining Celtic - again only lasting 12 months in the city. Speaking to the Daily Record, Miller admitted: "I knew it wasn't just a normal transfer.

"But I thought, 'You know what? I'm going to do it! I want to play for a successful team. I don't want to be fighting mid-table - I want to go and win trophies'. Celtic presented me with that opportunity.

"Was it the right move, the wrong move? Do I have any regrets? No, because it did exactly what I thought it would. It was a league title, a Scottish Cup win and a last 16 of the Champions League.

"Yes, it was tough. There were a lot of things that go on off the field that you have to deal with. That never bothered me."

What he wishes had happened differently was his record in front of goal. Just 11 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions failed to impress. I never scored enough goals that season and I look back and think I could have done better in that regard," he continued. "But it's not about individual accolades or achievements. For Rangers and Celtic it's about winning trophies and competing in Europe, you've got to progress. All those boxes got ticked."
