"I'm told": Transfer expert drops update on striker who's been on Chelsea's radar "for a while"

Transfer insider Dean Jones believes that Alexander Isak is aware of Chelsea‘s interest but is unsure about moving to the Premier League.

The Swedish striker was also the subject of interest from Arsenal in January despite only penning a new long-term contract with Real Sociedad last summer.

According to Football.London, he was on Arsenal’s list of targets in January, although he ended up staying in Spain despite making a trip to London in the final days of the window.

Furthermore, Chelsea and Manchester United, two clubs that could also do with bolstering their frontline, have entered the race to sign Isak, who has a £75m release clause.

The 22-year-old has not exactly been firing on all cylinders this season, scoring just four goals in La Liga, but boasts an impressive record with Sociedad: netting 41 goals in under 120 appearances since joining from Borussia Dortmund two-and-a-half years ago.

The report says that United consider Isak as a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo following his struggles on his return to Old Trafford, while Chelsea are concerned about Romelu Lukaku’s form since he re-signed for the Blues last summer.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Alex Isak is definitely aware of the growing interest in him, and Chelsea’s interest that is being reported isn’t actually new – he’s been on their radar a while.

“At the moment, I’m told he’s still unsure on the Premier League, but let’s see how the rest of this season pans out for him.”

Chelsea haven’t been afraid to flash the cash in recent seasons, but they would surely have to offload one of Lukaku or Timo Werner to allow Isak to become the next
