Manchester United are set for a ‘massive upheaval’ but the appointment of Erik ten Hag as the Red Devils’ incoming manager has ‘excited’ some members of the Old Trafford dressing room, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Ralf Rangnick has been in interim charge of the 20-time top flight title winners since November, but the club will enter a new era under the tutelage of ten Hag following the conclusion of the current campaign.

Manchester United have confirmed that ten Hag will leave Ajax to become their new boss in the summer.

The 52-year-old has signed a contract which will run until the climax of the 2024/25 season, but the deal boasts the option of being extended by a further 12 months.

Manchester United have succeeded in their bid to lure ten Hag away from Eredivisie giants Ajax after agreeing to pay a compensation package worth £2.5million, with assistant manager Mitchell van der Gaag also heading to Old Trafford.

It is unknown as to whether ten Hag will take over a Red Devils side which has qualified for the Champions League as they are still battling for a place in the Premier League’s top four, but bagging a Europa League spot at the very least is not even a foregone conclusion at this stage.

Ahead of swapping Ajax for the red half of Manchester, the Dutchman appears to be on course to get his hands on a third top flight title in his homeland.
