"I'm told" - Fabrizio Romano now drops big update on Manchester United pursuit of Antony

Manchester United will have to pay “way more” than £42m if they want to sign Ajax winger Antony this summer, according to the reliable Fabrizio Romano.

The Brazilian is thought to be a player of interest to the Red Devils, but Romano says he is not going to be cheap.

Sky Sports recently reported that United have made enquiries to Ajax about Antony, who Erik ten Hag managed last season.

Antony is not the only Ajax player United are interested in, with Romano stating back in May that Ten Hag also wants to bring defender Jurrien Timber to Old Trafford.

Both players were important for the Dutchman in the 2021/22 campaign, playing 32 and 43 games, respectively, under him.

As per FBref, the Brazil international has ranked in the 91st percentile for progressive passes, the 98th for progressive carries, the 90th for touches in the penalty area and the 99th for progressive passes received among attacking
