'I'm sure' - Transfer expert drops big Rangers update on 'top top player'
Rangers loanee Amad Diallo is unlikely to spend more time at Ibrox after his temporary spell, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says.
Diallo joined Manchester United more than a year ago but opportunities have been limited so far.
He’s only made nine appearances for their senior side, and six of those have come from the bench.
Shortly before the end of the January transfer window, Rangers agreed a deal to take him on loan until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old is valued at £16.2million by Transfermarkt and his United contract still has nearly three and a half years to run.
Romano pointed out that the Red Devils invested a lot of money in Diallo and says they are excited about what he could become.
“I think Amad Diallo’s future is in Manchester to be honest, they paid a lot of money for him,” he told Football Scotland.
“It was 23million euros plus big, huge bonuses to arrive at potentially around 35-40million euros for Atalanta.
“They paid a lot of money but they are super happy with the potential of this boy, they are convinced he could be a top top player.”
He added that Ibrox is a ‘perfect’ place for the youngster to develop in the meantime.
“Rangnick wanted to send him on loan for an opportunity to play and I think Rangers just have to try and enjoy the boy, to help the player,” he said.
“The player is so happy in Glasgow and they’re super happy with him so it’s a perfect match.
“Let’s see in the future, I’m sure they’ll do their best for Amad, he’ll do his best for Rangers.
“I’ve known him for a long time since he was in Italy and he’s always been super serious and professional.
“But for Manchester United he’ll be a part of the project.”
Rangers may mind not losing Diallo in the summer if he’s played a key role
