"I'm sure" - Journalist hints Leeds could "explore" deal for £29m star if Marsch keeps them up

Leeds United’s pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adam Traore will depend on which division they are playing in next season, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Whites have been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old after it was revealed Barcelona would not be making his return to the Camp Nou permanent.

Traore re-joined his boyhood club on a short-term loan deal in January that included the option to buy for £29 million.

However, Spanish sources have revealed that Barca chiefs have already decided against activating the clause for the pacey attacker, instead deciding to focus their attention and resources on tying Ousmane Dembele down to fresh terms.

The Spain international has just over a year remaining on his contract with parent club Wolves and is not expected to put pen to paper on fresh terms.

As a result, Traore is widely expected to move onto pastures new following the conclusion of the current campaign and could be reunited with director of football Victor Orta, who signed him for Middlesbrough.

O’Rourke believes Leeds’ pursuit could hinge on whether they are able to stay out of the relegation zone, though, with Traore likely to be unwilling to drop back into the Championship.
