'I'm a trichologist - here are the 3 steps I take to achieve waist-length hair'

A woman has shared how she grew her hair to waist length after struggling with androgenic alopecia.

The hair loss researcher and training trichologist @sofiahairhealth explained that she "hardly had any hair a few years ago," despite the fact her hair looks long, thick and healthy now. "These are the tips and tricks that you need to live by if you want hair like this," Sofia said.

Over the top of her video, she wrote: "How to grow your hair very long quickly," as she explained that consistency is the most important thing when you're undertaking these three key steps.

The first tip Sofia gave was to "stimulate blood flow [to your scalp] every day," because this is "what causes new hair growth".

She said that an "easy way of doing this" is to use minoxidil, which can be used to treat pattern hair loss. "When blood goes to your scalp, it takes oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles, making them stronger, putting them in the anagen phase, which is the growth phase, and allowing you to have thicker hair as well," she explained.

She said that minoxidil is "not the only way," so if you'd prefer to try something else, she also recommended dermarolling your scalp, scalp massages, and caffeine treatments.

"Now the most important thing is that you do this every day," regardless of which method you use, according to Sofia. She continued: "If you do this once or twice a week, it's not gonna work. You have to be stimulating blood flow consistently and continually for the hair to grow."
