'I loved it' - Bodvarsson, Jones, Dempsey & Bolton Wanderers dressing room view of Wigan draw

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson admitted he 'loved' the derby match against Wigan Athletic after coming off the bench to score what earned Bolton Wanderers a deserved point.

Wanderers came from behind to collect a share of the spoils against the Latics in the lunchtime kick-off at the DW Stadium.

James McClean put the Latics in front early in the first half as his cross found its way all the way through to give the hosts an early lead.

Leam Richardson's side dominated much of the first half but a big moment came before half-time when referee Samuel Barrott refrained from showing McClean a second yellow card following a foul on Dapo Afolayan, for whom he had fouled for his opening booking earlier in the game.

Wanderers were the better team after the break and got a deserved equaliser when Bodvarsson rose to nod home Will Aimson's cross and give Wanderers a share of the spoils.

Bodvarsson came off the bench to grab what proved to be the equaliser in derby clash and admitted he loves the occasions that these kinds of matches are and was overjoyed to share a special moment in front of the Wanderers fans.

Bodvarsson said: “It was a tough game and obviously there is a rivalry. We looked a bit lost at times in the first 20 minutes but as the game settled we seemed to start playing and got better with every minute.

“He (Evatt) said to try and be a presence, get us up the field. We were missing a chance to get up the pitch, so that was my main goal, to work hard.

“I was waiting for the cross and Will put a fantastic ball in. I just had to get my head around it and fortunately it went in the net.
