'I have to control it' - Pep Guardiola to try and change Man City behaviour after touchline ban

Pep Guardiola will try to rein in his emotions on the touchline after falling foul of the Premier League's crackdown on the behaviour of managers by collecting three yellow cards this season.

The Catalan was handed a touchline ban for Manchester City's 2-1 defeat to Wolves at Molineux and watched the game from the front row of the Billy Wright Stand, although he was allowed in the dressing room before and after the game.

Guardiola was booked against Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle this season, collecting yellow cards in three of the six domestic games he has been on the touchline for this season, having missed two games while recovering from back surgery.

The Premier League announced a crackdown on the behaviour of managers and their backroom staff at the start of the season. It is now supposed to be an automatic yellow card if there is ever more than one coach in the technical area, while aggression towards match officials and opponents is also being scrutinised more than before.

Three yellow cards will result in a touchline ban and Guardiola felt the force of the new laws at Wolves, becoming the second Premier League manager to collect three bookings after Fulham boss Marco Silva.

Guardiola said the new rules were explained to managers at the start of the season and that he would try and adapt to it.
