Pep Guardiola press conference LIVE Man City team news and injury latest before Brighton fixture

Pep Guardiola will speak to the media on Friday afternoon ahead of Manchester City's match-up with Brighton.

City will welcome the high-flying Seagulls to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the Blues return to Premier League action following the international break. City are in the rare position of a losing streak and will want to get back to winning ways after defeats to Wolves and Arsenal in their last two fixtures.

However, City will be boosted by the return of Rodri after his three-game suspension. John Stones is also returning to full fitness after playing 90 minutes over two matches for England.

Kevin De Bruyne is the only absentee as he remains sidelined until the new year with a hamstring injury. Guardiola may be asked about the condition of his squad ahead of the match.

Kevin De Bruyne had just scored a wonderful goal to see off a spirited Brighton side and record a useful three points for Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola wasn't happy.

"We struggled a bit, it's one of the toughest games you could face at the moment," he said last season, turning a positive 3-1 win into a clear message for his players to improve. "But [it’s] three points after the defeat at Anfield."

Guardiola described City as lucky to have De Bruyne's quality to win the game, and described the performance as resilient. He admitted that City had to change their style of play to combat Brighton, who were winless under new manager Roberto De Zerbi. Guardiola sounded like his side had just been beaten, and he talked up De Zerbi as a coup for Brighton - with his high praise justified in light of the Seagulls' subsequent form.
