‘I have a year left on my contract’ – Derby County boss Rooney rubbishes Burnley links
Derby County manager Wayne Rooney has played down speculation linking him with a move to Premier League club Burnley.
Mike Jackson stepped up from the U23s after Burnley sacked Sean Dyche. He has collected seven points from three games.
The interim boss is to carry on at Burnley on a game-by-game basis. Rooney was linked with the Clarets on Thursday morning. Speaking on the links via derbytelegraph.co.uk, he said: “I heard that this morning on talkSPORT, it is the first I heard of it.

“Now, of course, that depends, as I have said over the last few weeks, on the takeover going through. If it doesn’t, then of course you might have to reassess that, but, if it goes through, I am here and ready to try and get this club back up into the Championship.”
