'I have a theory' - Pep Guardiola responds to claims about 'boring' Man City

Pep Guardiola said it was obvious where the jeopardy lay for Manchester City as he dismissed claims that the title race was boring.

The Blues head to Tottenham knowing they must win for the first time in five league attempts at the new Spurs stadium if they are to have control of their own destiny going into the final day. Arsenal currently lead the Premier League by a point with a superior goal difference, although City have a game in hand on Tuesday night.

However, the fact that they have convincingly won their last four matches with 15 goals scored in the process - and are on course to win a sixth league title in seven years - has led to some tedious questions about how much suspense there is in the title race. With City and Arsenal so much better than the rest of the league, they are both racking up win after win.

Guardiola's own theory is that what they have previously won doesn't count for anything, so as good a form as they are in there is always the opportunity for them to lose.

"It's obvious. We have just one option: win the game. We travel for that," he said.

"I have a theory as a manager that what we did yesterday is over. 15 goals is fine to give us the points to be still here but it doesn't give us anything extra for tomorrow when we start the game.

"Yesterday and today, see how Spurs are as a team and see what has changed lately - different players are playing - and the mindset is easy because if we don't win we don't win the Premier League. We have to know exactly what they are as a team so demanding this
