'I have a feeling' - Sunderland boss makes prediction about Amad's future at Manchester United

Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray thinks Amad could eventually leave Manchester United for a 'top Spanish team'.

Amad joined United for a fee of £19million rising to £37m from Atalanta in October 2020 and that was a large fee considering his limited first-team experience, but he's started to deliver on his promise on loan with Sunderland this season.

After an indifferent start, Amad has become a key player for Sunderland and he's contributed 12 goals and three assists in 37 appearances, which has seen him receive a nomination for the league's Young Player of the Year award.

Mowbray, who has been important in his development in the North East, has consistently praised Amad throughout the season and after his goal on Saturday afternoon, he predicted the youngster could eventually leave United 'for big money'.

Amad's future was discussed by Mowbray and he suggested the winger has the ability to regularly play for a team abroad.

"I have a good feeling for Amad that if he’s not back at United he will go for big, big money to a top Spanish team," Mowbray told The Mirror. “He loves football and wants to play so what do you do if you are at Manchester United?

“Are you happy just to be a Manchester United player and play six sub appearances and two starts over a season of 60 games for them? Or do you want to go out and play? So are they going to sell him?

"If they do they will want to recoup their money which was reputedly 40m euros or whatever it was. The reality is he won’t be coming here, in my mind, unless they think he is going to be one hell of a player and needs to play, or he enjoys Sunderland and should keep going to play for them.
