"I get the feeling": Gold issues intriguing Spurs transfer claim, fans will be buzzing - opinion

Tottenham Hotspur could look to move more players on in the summer transfer window…

That is according to reliable football.london reporter Alasdair Gold, who dropped an intriguing claim about Antonio Conte’s future plans after his first attempt at shifting around the squad at Hotspur Way.

Spurs made two additions from Juventus in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski but saw as many as four players depart on deadline day.

And Gold believes that further exits could happen at the end of the season.

“I get the feeling there will be more departures in the summer because Conte will have identified those players he wanted out now and those who he could use until the end of the season before upgrading them,” he claimed during a Q&A with supporters this week.

This is certainly an interesting comment from one of the most trustworthy journalists when it comes to anything Spurs related, though it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

Conte, a Premier League and FA Cup winner with Chelsea, must be backed and if that means shifting more players on ahead of next year, then that’s exactly what chairman Daniel Levy and sporting director Fabio Paratici must do.

Truth be told, it’s something that has long been needed in N17 and the club’s recent moves are merely just the start.

A lot of the players that were around during the Mauricio Pochettino era still remain but there were signs even in the summer that the Italian supremo was making a change.

The likes of Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko have moved on permanently, whilst there appears to be no way back for either of their club-record signings, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso, after leaving in January on loan with options to buy for their respective sides.
