“I don’t think he’ll be here in the summer” – Ipswich Town fan pundit speaks out on potential deal for 23-year-old

Tyreeq Bakinson moved to Ipswich Town on loan from Bristol City in the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old has made 10 appearances for the Tractor Boys so far, playing a number of different roles in their midfield.

When the move went through in January, it was reported by BristolLive that there was an option for Ipswich to make Bakinson’s switch to Portman Road a permanent one in the summer, if the midfielder impressed.

With that being said, we asked FLW’s Ipswich Town fan pundit Henry for their thoughts on whether or not the club should look to sign Bakinson this summer.

“I don’t believe I’ll see him here next summer.” Henry told FLW.

“He’s been okay, he has filled in for certain roles, the deep lying midfielder when Morsy pushes forward, or he’s played that more advanced role when Morsy’s been missing and he’s been playing alongside Evans,”

“But I think there are better midfielders out there and I think his utilisation on the ball isn’t as great as McKenna will be wanting, so I think McKenna will find better options than Bakinson this summer.

“If he does stay, I wouldn’t be upset because he does look like he can improve and he’s got the athletic ability that McKenna likes, but his sometimes sloppiness on the ball I think would be frustrating.

“So no, I don’t think he’ll be here in the summer.”

Bakinson has done okay since switching Bristol for Ipswich in the January window but not enough to warrant a definite say on whether or not Ipswich should sign him.
