How much Sheffield United paid in agent fees and where they rank alongside Championship clubs

Sheffield United paid a little over £3.5m in agent costs, figures published by The FA this week reveal. Only West Brom and Fulham spent more, with the latter splashing out an eye-watering £10m on their intermediary fees.

The period covers the summer transfer window and the January one just gone. United brought in four loan players. Conor Hourihane, Morgan Gibbs-White, Ben Davies and Robin Olsen from Aston Villa, Wolves, Liverpool and Roma respectively, while Adlène Guedioura signed on a free in the summer. Aaron Ramsdale also departed the club to Arsenal.

Olsen saw his loan terminated at the start of the year to allow him to move to Villa, with Adam Davies signing on a free contract having done the same with his deal at Stoke. Charlie Goode arrived from Brentford on loan and Lys Mousset, Oli Burke, Luke Freeman and Regan Slater all departed.

The cost for deals United concluded in those two transfer windows was £3,571,417. West Brom spent a touch more at £4,148,886, while Fulham spent a staggering £10,160,399. To put Fulham's spending into context in terms of other Championship clubs, Luton's wage bill for the season is only £2m more.

At the bottom end of the table, Hull City spent the least amount, paying £242,986. In total, Championship clubs spent £44.3million during this period.
