'I did nothing to my dated £215,000 home and walked away with a hefty £18,000 profit'

A woman has made a hefty £18,000 profit on her property despite not doing any renovation work at all. Nikki, a mum-of-five, bagged a three-bedroom house in Crewe at auction for £215,000.

After buying the 'dated' semi-detached house, which was just a short distance from the town centre, Nikki did a very quick and simple tidy-up, and she managed to add a good chunk of value to it.

By simply tidying up the garden and clearing the furniture out of the house - at a cost of £2,000 - the end result left her with a whopping £18,000 profit after selling it for £235,000, reports CheshireLive.

Nikki's house featured on the latest episode of BBC's Homes Under the Hammer which sees presenters including Martin Roberts, Dion Dublin, Jacqui Joseph cast their eyes over a number of houses set to go to auction.

The experts then follow the journey from the initial bid right up to the end result.

“It just goes to show, with very little spend, if you buy in the right location, good schools, local amenities, buy at the right price, there is still money to be made on houses, even if you do nothing to them,” Nikki told the popular daytime show.

Presenter Jacqui Joseph was tasked with visiting the property in August last year. She described it as "pretty dated" but was impressed with the size.

She went on to call it the house that "keeps on giving" after discovering it had two kitchens and a "secret garden". As well as the traditional kitchen, the property also had one adjoining the garage as part of a "lean to" set-up which included a downstairs toilet.
