'I came to Chiefs because I wanted to win trophies!' - Dolly bemoans early Cup exit

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Keagan Dolly has expressed his deep disappointment after Amakhosi were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by TS Galaxy on Saturday.

Chiefs succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to the Rockets at the FNB Stadium in the Round of 32 on Saturday, with Augustine Kwem netting the match's only goal in the 54th minute.

It is the second successive season that Chiefs have been knocked out at the opening hurdle of the Nedbank Cup after GladAfrica Championship outfit Richards Bay FC sent them out at the same stage last campaign.

Having also failed in the MTN8, the Glamour Boys are set to see their trophy drought extended to an eighth year, with Mamelodi Sundowns looking heavy favourites to win the DStv Premiership.

Dolly joined the Soweto giants at the beginning of the season on a free transfer from French Ligue 1 outfit Montpellier in the hope that he would attain silverware, but Saturday's Nedbank Cup disaster has left the 28-year-old admittedly disillusioned

"I am very, very disappointed," he said.

"I came to Chiefs because I wanted to win trophies. I think we have the capacity to do so [win trophies], we have the players, we have the quality, and to go out [of the Nedbank Cup] so early is disappointing.

"We are disappointed, not only because we lost, but because of the way we played. I do not think we were ourselves on the day, our movement off the ball, our pressing shape.

"I think it wasn't us, and I think it is good we have a game on Tuesday so that we can rectify our mistakes and get our confidence back. I think the game on Tuesday is a good chance for all of us [as players] to come back and try to do our best to win on the day.
