I bought exactly the same shopping from Asda and with the Tesco Clubcard to see which is cheapest

With shoppers wanting to save money where they can, it's not surprising that many are keeping an eye out for offers.

One supermarket that does stand out for its loyalty card discounts is Tesco, where the Clubcard offers are a regular draw for those looking to make savings.

I was quite shocked to find such a marginal difference. Of the 24 items I bought, seven were the same price, nine were cheaper at Tesco, but eight were actually cheaper at Asda - albeit two of the products were larger so I had to work out the comparable price.

Overall it came to £62.45 at Tesco and £62.81 at Asda - a difference of just 0.6%.

The items that were the exact same price included McCain Potato Smiles, Birds Eye Chicken Burgers, Chopped tomatoes, Pot Noodles, Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Snack Bars and Tetley Tea Bags.

Among the best deals at Asda is the 5 for £5 offer
