Hunt for knife attacker as man, 24, seriously injured in stabbing

A 24-year-old man was left seriously injured in a horror stabbing in Tameside on Saturday night (August 3). The victim was rushed to hospital after the brutal attack at around 10.50pm.

The victim was found with stab injuries on Broadoak Road, in Ashton-under-Lyne, and is being treated for 'serious' injuries. He is currently stable, and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.

The incident is being treated as 'isolated', with an investigation now underway to find the attacker. Greater Manchester Police have launched an urgent appeal for information.

Broadoak Road was taped off between the community centre and nearby Broadbent Road throughout the night amid investigations into the stabbing.

Detective Inspector Christopher Dean, from GMP’s Tameside district, said: “We are seeking anyone who has information about this incident to please get in touch.

"This sort of violence has no place on our streets and officers are investigating this incident as we work to seek justice for the victim."
