Hungarian GP: 5 big questions that need answers in Budapest

The Hungarian Grand Prix is back for another year with the Formula 1 circus descending on Budapest for the last race before the summer break.

It’s been a fascinating season so far and one that Max Verstappen will have enjoyed most of all, with him currently 63 points clear at the top of the standings ahead of Charles Leclerc.

Indeed, the French Grand Prix last weekend could prove to be a real pivotal moment in the title fight with Leclerc’s retirement in mind and, that said, we kick off our latest 5 big questions piece with the Monegasque…

How does Leclerc bounce back?

Charles Leclerc was in fairly upbeat mood speaking to the press here in Budapest on Thursday, with him saying that he has put what happened in France behind him and he is focused on the task at hand.

He said he still believes in the championship and will do so until it’s mathematically impossible, but it’s obviously a long shot now.

The Monegasque will be aiming to seal victory this weekend, though, to at least try and kickstart what would be some comeback after the summer.

Can Sergio Perez rediscover form?

Perez has seen his own title hopes suffer in recent races with him retiring twice in the three races leading up to France, whilst he also seemed off of the pace at Paul Ricard as well, with both Mercedes beating him to the podium in the end – though a VSC systems issue did not help his cause.

He’s spoken about how he wants to go into the summer on the back of a big result and he certainly needs to outscore Max here, with the threat of team orders coming into play certainly growing.
