Matt Parcell has committed his future to Hull KR after signing a two-year extension that will see him at the club at least until the end of 2024.
The news will come to the relief of many as Parcell was initially rumoured to be heading back home to Australia, with NRL clubs Brisbane Broncos and Redcliffe Dolphins eager to secure Parcell's signature for 2023 and beyond.
Parcell has become a leading figure in this Hull KR side, and his partnership with fellow dummy-half Jez Litten has proved to be a real weapon in Rovers' armoury.

“I had a really good chat with Willie Peters the other day," said Parcell.
"Tt was good to speak to him on how he doesn’t want to change too much about my game and how he wants the team to play. He’ll have his spin on it and then add what he wants from the team.
“He (Peters) really enjoys my running game and he wants to keep that going, that’s a big thing for me. I think that’s when I play my best and what I excel at, that’s where Tony (Smith) has been brilliant with me too.
“The last couple of years have been quite tough with covid and not seeing the family for a while. But, after speaking to Willie (Peters) I was really excited by the chat and his vision for the team so that made my decision a lot easier."
The retention is a real statement of intent from the club, with Rovers now being able to keep their star players after years of losing their most valuable assets to more appealing clubs.
After the retention of Parcell and Kane Linnett, and Lachlan Coote still contracted next year, Rovers now have only four quota spots available for 2023, with new coach Willie Peters already shaping up his side ready for next year.
