Hull FC's Andre Savelio takes to social media with emotional message after being ruled out

Andre Savelio has taken to social media after being ruled out for the remainder of the Super League season. The back-rower heard a pop in his knee during the first half of Good Friday’s clash against Hull KR and after making it to half-time, he was withdrawn from the contest by the club’s medical staff.

However, scans over the Easter weekend revealed that Savelio has ruptured his ACL and therefore, he will miss the rest of the campaign. He’ll have surgery in the coming days before beginning a long and arduous rehabilitation process.

Savelio has ruptured his ACL before, during his first pre-season with Brisbane Broncos, and he knows what lies ahead as he looks to work his way back to full fitness over the course of the year. Hodgson revealed the news on Monday night following the club’s win over Warrington Wolves and the forward took to Instagram on Tuesday evening to deliver a heartfelt message.

“The injury, the op, the rehab - that’s tough,” he wrote. “But looking your mates in the eyes when their backs to the wall, knowing you can’t lace up with them - that s--- really hits.

“I’ve been here before – I’ll be back. Love This Team.”

Savelio had been in fine form prior to the injury, scoring three tries in all competitions, including efforts in Super League wins over Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants.
