Hull City targeting transfer move for 30-year-old

Championship side Hull City are currently weighing up a move for Fulham midfielder Jean Michael Seri following his release, according to this morning’s report from Football Insider.

The 30-year-old became a key player for the Cottagers during the 2021/22 campaign, making 33 league appearances under Marco Silva and recording one goal and six assists during that time as an effective midfield option.

This promising campaign came after an underwhelming past couple of seasons for the Ivorian, spending time at Galatasaray and Bordeaux after failing to keep the Cottagers in the top flight.

Despite this promising comeback though, Silva has taken the decision to let the midfielder go as he looks to recruit other options instead, even with Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa set to seal a permanent move to Serie A outfit Napoli.

Another side currently in need of more options in the middle of the park is Hull, who have released Tom Huddlestone and captain Richie Smallwood, leaving a void Shota Arveladze will need to fill in the coming months.

One target they have identified is Seri, with owner Acun Ilicali reportedly ready to sanction a move for the 30-year-old during what could be a busy summer at the MKM Stadium, with Ilicali and Arveladze overseeing their first full transfer window in charge of the Tigers.

The Ivorian will be available for nothing with the Cottagers not entitled to any form of compensation.

The Verdict:

It will be interesting to see whether the Tigers can meet his wage demands – but that may not matter anyway because a return to France could be tempting for the midfielder after enjoying such a successful spell at Nice.

He may also be reluctant to remain in the second tier considering his role in guiding the Cottagers to
