Hull City supporters react to Acun Ilicali's plan to take 500 of them to Turkey on all-expenses-paid holiday

Hull City owner Acun Ilicali has announced plans to take 500 supporters on an all-expenses-paid holiday to his native Turkey, prompting a mixed reaction on social media. Although messages of approval flooded Twitter following the reveal, there have been suggestions that focus and money should be directed elsewhere.

Acun Medya took over the club back in January and their founder Ilicali has been the face of the new regime, engaging with supporters on a relatively frequent basis. His arrival at the club has not yet sparked a significant improvement on the pitch but there is hope among the MKM Stadium faithful that a summer of shrewd signings can revive the Tigers.

Supporters will be drawn from a lottery, good causes, charities and other groups, and will join the owner in Antalya. Getting supporters on side and ushering more through the turnstiles at the ground emerged as a key priority for the owner early on in his reign and his latest announcement has certainly pleased many.

Although his holiday plan has not been slammed, there have been suggestions from sections of the fanbase that the money could be better spent elsewhere and reiterations of the need for focus on the squad.
