Hull City have clear dangerman for Huddersfield Town to deal with in must-win encounter

Huddersfield Town resume their season early on Friday night with a trip to Hull and a desperate need to get back to winning ways. There is no need to panic quite yet, but defeats to Millwall and Bournemouth have seen them slip back into the pack rather than running away from it. The end of the season is officially in sight, Town want to grab that place in the play-offs definitively.

Lots at stake then and plenty to debate beforehand. Hull have had their own ups and downs this season and sit 20 th currently, unlikely to be involved in the relegation shake up with a 13 point cushion to Barnsley who look increasingly like a League One side. They’ve had an ownership change, a management change, and really their only objective was to do what they’ve nearly done – survive.

A team with everything to play for against one with very little – we’ve seen how this goes if the former aren’t on their game. Preview time and plenty to comb through, ultimately this is an away Championship game the Terriers have to target for a win but life is never quite that simple in this division. They did beat Hull 2-0 at the John Smith’s on an afternoon where they held the visitors at arm’s length for 90 minutes excellently. More of the same would do, wouldn’t it?

The return fixture was a nice and steady three points for Town, and they do in fact have good recent history to call upon here as they’ve won the last three games between the two. Due to travel between leagues there hasn’t actually been a huge number of games, but certainly nothing to fear from the recent past for the Terriers here.
