Hull City facing Championship competition for in-demand Gillingham defender Jack Tucker

Hull City will face competition from Blackpool and Swansea City to sign Gillingham defender Jack Tucker. The Tigers had a number of bids for the defender knocked back in January and could well reignite their interest this summer.

LancsLive claims Blackpool have joined the pack of clubs to sign the 22-year-old central defender. Tucker came through the Gills youth ranks at the age of seven and has already clocked up an impressive 100 appearances.

Tucker's contract is now up at the Priestfield Stadium, with Swansea joining the Tigers as an interested party according to the Sun, while Yorkshire Live suggest Sheffield Wednesday are also interested in the defender.

Gillingham would be entitled to compensation for Tucker, given he's under the age of 24 and the club has offered him a new deal. Hull may have a slight advantage over the Tangerines, after owner Simon Sadler recently told supporters, large investments in the club's infrastructure meant that they wouldn't be splashing the cash this summer.

The Gills relegation to League Two means he's likely when his contract expires, with Neil Harris claiming the youngster is too good to play at that level.
