Hugo Lloris Showed Why He's Tottenham Captain After Helping Dele Alli Say Goodbye To Spurs' Fans

Fans have spotted a touching moment between Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli at the end of Tottenham’s win over Everton on Monday night.

It was an evening to forget for Alli, who was returning to Tottenham for the first time since joining Everton in a last-minute Deadline Day move in January.

The England international started the match on the bench and was only brought on in the 69th minute, by which time Tottenham had already wrapped up the game.

Alli was applauded by the Spurs fans while being subbed on, with the home supporters bursting into a rendition of his chant.

At the end of the match, Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris put his arm round the midfielder and gestured for him to go and say goodbye the remaining fans in the stadium.

Alli then soaked up one final moment of applause before heading down the tunnel.

Both Lloris and Alli have received praise from Tottenham fans on social media.

“Classy by Lloris and dele deserves the thanks and goodbyes,” wrote one fan.

Another added: “Goodbye Dele, you were brilliant for us, hope you find some form soon mate. Thank you.”

A third wrote: “Love that! And love Hugo more than I already did! Class act!”

Alli joined Tottenham in a £5m move from MK Dons in 2015 and would go on to play 269 games for the club, scoring 67 times.

He was part of the Mauricio Pochettino side that finished second in the Premier League and reached the Champions League final in 2019.

After falling out of favour at Tottenham, Alli joined Everton in January in a deal worth up to £40m. He has made five appearances so far for the Toffees, without scoring.

Victory for Spurs on Monday moves them to within three points of the Champions League places, while Everton remain in 17th – just a point outside the relegation zone.
