Huge delays causes FIVE MILES of queues on M6 motorway amid crash

There are long delays on a stretch of the M6 motorway this morning after a crash.

One lane has been closed off on the northbound side of the motorway from junction 18 for Holmes Chapel to junction 19 for Knutsford. Traffic was previously being held.

According to National Highways, traffic is queuing for around five miles up to the lane closure. There are delays of almost an hour on the northbound carriageway.

In a post on X, National Highways said: "The #M6 northbound between J18 (Holmes Chapel) and J19 (Knutsford), lane 1 (of 4) is closed due to a collision. There is currently approx. 5 miles of congestion on approach, causing delays of 55 minutes above usual journey times."
