Huddersfield Town linked with transfer move for Cardiff City winger Josh Murphy
Huddersfield Town have been linked with a transfer interest in Cardiff City winger Josh Murphy, who will become a free agent later this week when his contract in south Wales comes to an end.
The Terriers are on the lookout for new recruits in attacking positions this summer after successfully revamping their rearguard last year, bringing about a massive improvement in their defensive record and setting the foundation for their eventual third-place finish in the Championship.
Murphy has been a bit-part player at Cardiff over the past couple of seasons, with the majority of his appearances coming from the bench – including all 12 of his brief Championship outings over the past 12 months.
Football Insider write that Town are ‘in talks’ with Murphy, who joined Cardiff from Norwich City for a fee reported to be in the region of £11m during their last Premier League spell in 2018.
understands that Murphy is just one of several options Town are considering for that position this summer, however, and a move to complete a deal does not currently look to be imminent.
Murphy is just the latest name to be connected to Town this summer alongside the likes of Wimbledon’s attacking midfielder Jack Rudoni, promising Ipswich Town striker Tyreece Simpson and up-and-coming Manchester City midfielder James McAtee.
Town have announced one new incoming this signing with Cheltenham Town captain Will Boyle returning to the club to bring more competition at centre-back following Naby Sarr’s release and the end of Levi Colwill’s loan from Chelsea.
