Huddersfield Town dressing room view on Lewis O'Brien amid fresh Premier League links

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Huddersfield Town duo Lewis O’Brien and Harry Toffolo, according to reports.

O’Brien, who came through Huddersfield’s ranks in 2018, was a mainstay in the side as he played 50 games across all competitions to help guide the Terriers to the Championship play-off final last season. Nottingham Forest, who beat Huddersfield in the final in May, are preparing a £10million bid, with previous reports claiming O’Brien’s release clause is £12million.

Here is what those closest to O’Brien have had to say about the midfielder.

“He is a brilliant player, there are two things. Firstly this year he has played as number three, as a left-back and a wing-back, in his best position in midfield as a number eight, as number eleven, as a ten, and even as a number seven in the change to a 3-4-3 he spent some minutes playing on the right.

“But it’s not only the fact that Lewis O'Brien can compete at a top-level every single time he plays whatever position he is on the football pitch, it’s how he reacts to how you make him play in different positions. There is what makes him a special player and that is the fact that means I don’t see limits in his career and I don’t see limits in his potential.

"His attitude is fantastic and his work ethic. Everything about him; he’s a top kid with a bright future ahead of him. We know he is going to play in the Premier League. Whether it is with Huddersfield Town or not, he will get there. His attitude will drive him there.

“We do the kilometre runs in pre-season and it is always me and Lewis in the top group. He still says he cannot beat me, but I think he can now! He is still a young lad and I am getting on. We will soon see next year.”
