Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has said that it is a ‘special feeling’ seeing Christian Eriksen make his footballing return after he was named in the Brentford squad on Saturday.

The Danish midfielder signed a short-term deal with the Bees on deadline day after leaving Inter Milan last year.

He was not allowed to represent the reigning Italian champions any longer, with Serie A regulations not permitting him to play with the implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) he had installed following the cardiac arrest that he suffered at Euro 2020.

Remarkably, Eriksen was handed a place on the Brentford bench for their Premier League tie with Newcastle United on Saturday as he replaced Mathias Jensen just before the hour-mark - the same alteration that was made following the incident in the summer.

Ahead of the Dane’s return, Tottenham striker Kane was asked his feelings on seeing his former teammate back on the pitch and suggested that he wanted to witness the 30-year-old playing again.

Speaking with BT Sport, the England captain said: “Delighted for Chris. Hopefully he is able to get on and play some minutes and get back to Premier League football.
