How Manchester United should line up vs Brighton in FA Cup semi-final fixture

Manchester United will take on Brighton at Wembley for a place in the final of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

United suffered a 3-0 defeat against Sevilla earlier in the week, which meant they crashed out of the Europa League. Erik ten Hag has demanded that his players bounce back against Brighton but the fixture won't be straightforward.

Brighton have been in excellent form this season and they sit just outside the European places. The Seagulls also defeated United 2-1 at Old Trafford on the opening day of the campaign and Roberto De Zerbi has proved to be a stellar appointment.

Regarding the team news, Bruno Fernandes is available for selection again after missing the Sevilla match through suspension, but Harry Maguire is not in contention to feature due to serving a suspension himself in the FA Cup.

There are obvious and essential changes to make. Luke Shaw has to come in at centre half and Tyrell Malacia is a risk United will have to take. After Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s regression in Seville, it would be contrary not to start Diogo Dalot.

Bruno Fernandes has to come back in and United have to hope their midfield triumvirate’s unbeaten record continues. Irrespective of Anthony Martial’s fitness, Jadon Sancho cannot start.

The tweak is to put Fernandes on the wing, with Rashford up front as Wout Weghorst is of no use as a starter or a substitute.
