How Manchester United could line-up next season with Jurrien Timber, Frenkie de Jong and Antony
The summer transfer window is only a little over 48 hours old and already speculation concerning Manchester United is mounting.
Following a disastrous 2021/22 campaign, which saw the club finish sixth in the Premier League table and extend their wait for a trophy to five years, United have aspirations to change the landscape of their squad this summer by adding some much-needed fresh blood. United have confirmed that 11 players will leave Old Trafford when their contracts expire on June 30, including Paul Pogba and Juan Mata, meaning their departures will pave the way for holes to be filled with new recruits.
United want to strengthen several areas within their first-team squad this summer, not least central-midfield. Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong has been pinpointed as their top target and there is a growing feeling that a deal, although it seemed unimaginable a few weeks ago, might actually happen, even though nothing has been agreed as of yet.

As well as wanting to bolster their midfield options, United also want to add fresh blood at the back, with the likes of Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, Pau Torres of Villarreal and Inter Milan ace Alessandro Bastoni having all been linked with moves to Old Trafford. Of the three of them, Timber is understood to be their preferred option.
United are also planning to improve their attacking options, too. Links connecting Ajax ace Antony with a move to M16 have gathered pace in the last few days, meaning speculation concerning his future is rife.
