How Man City should line up vs Wolves in Premier League

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City are sweating on Nathan Ake's fitness for the Premier League trip to Wolves tonight.

Guardiola had already ruled Kyle Walker, John Stones and Ruben Dias out for the season, with Ake previously thought to be injured for City's clash at Molineux. However, on Tuesday the manager said Ake would be assessed over the following 24 hours to see if he could face Wolves, with Guardiola assessing his squad's injury problems as having '15 and a half players'.

With at least three senior defenders out, Guardiola may have to drop Fernandinho in at the back, with the captain and youngster CJ Egan-Riley ending the win over Newcastle as the makeshift centre-back pairing.

Guardiola could also make changes in attack to keep his side fresh, with this the first of three final games in the space of 11 days.

Guardiola is reduced to virtually no options in terms of his back four and holding midfielder, but as usual he has a wide array of fresh, attacking talent at his disposal to change it around up front. Fernandinho is the clear candidate to replace Ruben Dias, after performing there so well a couple of years ago and in the second half on Sunday, and taking Rodri out of midfield - the other option the manager mentioned - is a poor second.

City's best hope is to control the game and play it in the Wolves half, and the return of Phil Foden will help establish that. Riyad Mahrez is also due back, and that means the third spot is down to a straight fight between Raheem Sterling and Jack Grealish. Purely on
