How Man City should line up vs Sheffield United in FA Cup semi-final

Manchester City will be looking to advance in another knock-out competition on Saturday as they take on Sheffield United in the FA Cup.

City will be going into Wembley brimming with confidence after their composed and mature performance at Bayern Munich on Wednesday saw them book a semi-final date with Real Madrid. But before that, they will have to navigate another semi-final against the high-flying Blades.

Pep Guardiola had a fully-fit squad at his disposal for all of 66 minutes before Nathan Ake slumped to the floor with a hamstring injury in Germany. The Dutch defender is set for a spell on the sidelines and though it's not yet clear how long that will be, he will not be available at Wembley.

"I don't know," Guardiola replied when asked how Ake is. "He's not ready for tomorrow but I don't know the damage. I think this afternoon they do the final test to see exactly what he has."

There are a few big debates around the team, with Guardiola needing to rest anyone who may be particularly knackered from Munich while also picking a strong enough team to hold off a dangerous Sheffield United.

Haaland is central to that, and here at least there is a capable replacement in Julian Alvarez. The Argentine will always come second to Haaland when the pair are fit but with Arsenal ahead in midweek Alvarez is able to provide adequate cover without a drop-off in team performance.
