How Man City dressing room views Arsenal title race and Pep Guardiola must-win challenge

Manchester City's players are ready to rise to manager Pep Guardiola's challenge to win every single remaining game in the Premier League in order to have a chance of catching leaders Arsenal.

City made it seven unbeaten in the league with a 4-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday, and secured a fourth victory in a row for the first time this season. However, Arsenal followed that with a 4-1 win of their own to maintain their eight-point lead having played a game more.

The two sides meet at the Etihad at the end of this month, in a game City must win to stop Arsenal from extending their lead further, and manager Guardiola has asserted that his side have to win every one of their remaining ten games to stop the Gunners taking the title.

After the Liverpool game, defender Manuel Akanji had to agree with his manager, saying: "Probably, yes [Guardiola is right]. There are still a lot of games to go but we probably have to win all the games, and that is what we aim for, and we hope we can do that

"It’s coming towards the end of the season. And it’s tough games, and we need to win in all of the games in these competitions. That is what we are working for and what we want. We have done a good job recently."

That message was mimicked by midfielder Bernardo Silva, who echoed Guardiola's other assertion that City's experience of competing in title races counts for little against Arsenal.

"They can win it but we are going to fight until the end," Bernardo said. "It can go both ways. Some people say, 'they’re more experienced' and others say, 'oh, because they’ve won it in the past they don’t want to win it any more'. You guys decide.
