Arsene Wenger agrees with Pep Guardiola as he assesses Premier League title race

Legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is still backing Mikel Arteta's team to win the Premier League title and believes they could take advantage of Manchester City's tiredness at still competing across three competitions.

Pep Guardiola admitted as much after advancing against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, explaining to BT Sport that the team are exhausted and lamented how demanding the turnaround between playing away in Germany on Wednesday evening and turning out against Sheffield United at Wembley less than 72 hours later is for the players.

Wenger agreed with the City manager, stating that their fatigue was evident during the latter stages of their game against Bayern as Manuel Akanji gave away a penalty that Joshua Kimmich put past Ederson.

"Like Guardiola said tonight, City is very tired," Wenger told beIN SPORTS. "I felt they finished (the game) tired, and maybe Arsenal can take advantage of that because they are playing for nothing else, just the Premier League, and they play on Friday night after they have five days to prepare for this game (against Southampton)."

Following the win over Bayern, Guardiola said: "We are exhausted. I don't know how we recover to play against Sheffield United [in the FA Cup semi-final]. Now is a tough moment for the game on Saturday.

"Three years in a row in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

"We struggled in the first half. Upamecano broke all the lines down our left side and we struggled with Coman. We were fortunate before the penalty miss, they had one or two chances and anything could happen but we defended really well.

"The finishing from Erling was really, really good. He is so young.
