How is Louis Moult faring since leaving Preston North End?

There was a fair amount of excitement back in December 2017 when Preston North End beat off competition from other clubs to sign Motherwell striker Louis Moult, who had a prolific record in the Scottish Premiership at the time.

Having scored goals on a regular basis in the National League for Wrexham, the striker made the move north of the border and 38 goals in 84 league games for the Fir Park side saw PNE make a mid-season move for Moult for an undisclosed fee.

Moult barely featured in his first half-season at Deepdale, scoring twice in 10 outings and then he scored four times in 24 Championship appearances during the 2018-19 campaign, whilst he missed around three months of action due to a knee injury.

Disaster struck at the start of the 2019-20 season though as a cruciate ligament injury picked up against Swansea City ruled Moult out for around 18 months, and whilst he was fit enough to make the bench in April 2021 for North End, he would never make another appearance again for the club.

Moult however did find a new club over the summer in League One outfit Burton Albion – but how’s he been getting on at the Pirelli Stadium?

Well unfortunately for the 29-year-old some niggling issues have arisen that Moult cannot seem to shake off.

After suffering an ankle injury in pre-season, Moult was ruled out for up to five months before a ball was even kicked competitively, and he finally made his debut at the back end of January as a substitute against MK Dons.

Four more appearances followed including two starts but Moult has been absent from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s squad for the last three matches.
