'How I feed my family for just £10 a week'

Feeding your family on a budget is difficult at the best of times, and with energy and food costs remaining stubbornly high, keeping the weekly shopping bill low is harder than ever. But one mum who is a dab hand at keeping the cost of every meal low has shared five dishes that can feed a family for under £2.

After seeing the struggles that ordinary families are going through to put food on the table, 30-year-old Grace Mortimer set up an Instagram page, My First Meals, to share ideas that can create filling dinners at a surprisingly low cost. Now, her account has reached 450,000 followers and Grace has a cookbook featured on the Sunday Times' bestseller list.

Grace, a mum-of-one, says she does not "compromise on flavour" when it comes to cooking- and now she has revealed her best money-saving tips.

"With the cost of food rising to all time highs at the moment, I think we’re all feeling the pinch," Grace says.

"My weekly food shop has risen by 50 per cent on average. I shop at Aldi because I find it to be the cheapest.

"Plus other supermarkets price match with them, so it makes coming up with a meal plan a lot easier for people to use who don’t have one nearby."

The food blogger advises that people steer clear of the branded goods where possible and that you should always check the world food aisles in larger supermarkets - as they often have products such as tinned tomatoes and coconut milk for much cheaper.

Another big tip, she says, is "storing your leftovers separately."
