How did QPR’s attendance v Middlesbrough compare to the rest of the Championship?

It was a topsy turvy game that saw the hosts take a 3-0 lead before Chris Wilder’s men turned the screw with a two goal reply.

But a red card to Darragh Lenihan in the closing stages signified that the result was rarely in doubt for Michael Beale’s side, who got their first win of the new Championship season.

It was also the first win for Beale since he took over as manager of the club over the summer.

The former Aston Villa assistant manager replaced Mark Warburton after a disappointing second half of last season.

He will be hoping Saturday’s result and performance is an indication that this will be a brighter year ahead for the club.

Here we will look at how the attendance figures from Saturday afternoon’s compared with the rest of the division… 

Considering Loftus Road’s capacity is roughly 18,000, QPR playing host to just over 15,000 supporters is an impressive figure in its own right.

However, that figure is only lowered by Reading who saw just under 14,000 visit the Madejski Stadium to see Paul Ince’s side earn a comeback win over Cardiff City.

It is a positive that the London club was able to bring so many fans in for the occasion and will be hopeful that it can retain such a high rate of ticket sales.

The figure also becomes more impressive in the context of London’s busy football scene. 

There are now numerous Premier League clubs all showcasing the action in England’s capital, with Tottenham Hotspur the premiere competitor during last Saturday’s 3pm kick-off.

QPR will have to contend with Brentford, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Arsenal all being a home to top flight football this season once again.
