How Arsenal could line up with Gabriel Jesus amongst two 'marquee' transfers

After an exciting season which sees Arsenal in contention for Champions League football next term, things could be about to get even better at the Emirates.

Technical director Edu has hinted at the Gunners' intention to make two marquee signings during the summer transfer window, with Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus among the names heavily linked with a move to north London. Before bagging four goals in City's 5-1 demolition of Watford last weekend, it emerged that Jesus was keen on the switch, with his representatives holding talks with Edu over the past few months despite no official contact between the two clubs.

The 25-year-old would fill manager Mikel Arteta's impending void up front, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah - currently the only two senior strikers at his disposal - both set to leave Arsenal when their contracts expire in June. After a six-signing rebuild last summer, the Gunners are now hoping to finesse their side in the upcoming window.

"The budget we used last summer, we prefer to use it to rebalance the squad," Edu explained to ESPN Brazil ahead of Saturday's 3-1 win against Manchester United. "There was no point in hiring one or two players [in January], the squad was not prepared to absorb two players, we needed to rebalance the squad. Maybe next season we can go to one or two players.

"Today we find a much more balanced squad. Our planning has already been done, it has already reached the owners. It's a matter of step by step, how we are going to finish the season and to put in plan the planning that I'm very excited about."
