"Arteta will be getting..." - Transfer insider reveals how many signings Arsenal could make

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could be handed up to five new signings this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The north London club are set to return to Europe next season, so the Spaniard will no doubt want reinforcements, and Jones is confident that he will get just that.

One transfer line currently coming out of Arsenal is that the Gunners want to sign Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus.

The 25-year-old’s agent recently told Fabrizio Romano: “We had talks with Arsenal about Gabriel Jesus, we like the project – it’s a possibility we’re discussing.

“There are 6 more clubs interested in Gabriel – he’s focused on final games with Man City, we’ll see.”

Meanwhile, GOAL has claimed that Arsenal have already launched a €50m (£42m) bid for Jesus, which is close to City’s €60m (£51m) valuation, so a deal certainly does look like it can be done.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: “Arteta will be getting at least five new faces in there this summer, and they are to improve the level of this team. This isn’t for squad players; this is for players that are competing for spots in that first XI because that’s what Arsenal need.”

They have to, otherwise they risk regressing after a season where they have made so much progress under Arteta.

Positions in Arsenal’s starting XI need to be addressed, while Arteta will just want a bigger squad in general since the Gunners will be playing in Europe again next term.
