How Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes reacted to Kobbie Mainoo display in Man United vs Leeds

Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho both sent messages of encouragement to Kobbie Mainoo following his brilliant performance in Wednesday's friendly vs Leeds.

Mainoo started in midfield and excelled during the opening 45 minutes at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, dictating play and spraying passes from deep. The 18-year-old came off at half-time with the scores at 0-0 as Erik ten Hag made wholesale changes.

Second-half goals from Noam Emeran and Joe Hugill handed United a 2-0 win against the Championship side, as Ten Hag kicked off pre-season with a comfortable victory.

Shortly after the result, Mainoo posted a collection of pictures from the game alongside the caption: "1st one back."

Neither Fernandes nor Garnacho were available for the opening friendly, having played for Portugal and Argentina respectively during the June internationals. However, both were evidently watching the game and had kind messages for their young teammate.

Fernandes said: "What a performance kid". Meanwhile, Garnacho commented: "You are the [goat emoji]".

The first-team pair are among the players expected back at Carrington for testing in the next week, alongside the likes of Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Casemiro. The second batch of returnees will travel to Edinburgh with the squad to face Lyon next Wednesday, before jetting off to the United States.
