Hospital 'locked down' due to 'disorder' after boy, 16, stabbed in broad daylight
'Disorder' broke out at a hospital after a teenage boy was stabbed. Police are now investigating the trouble which is it believed is linked to the knife attack in Birmingham.
A witness said the city's Heartlands Hospital had to be 'locked down' in the aftermath of the knife attack. The 16 year-old was on Pretoria Road, in Bordesley Green area of the city, at around 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon.
He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Police are also probing disorder, believed to be linked to the stabbing, which erupted at a Birmingham hospital. One witness told BirminghamLive that Heartlands Hospital went into 'lockdown' after a group 'ambushed' its A&E department last night.
While an ambulance was also 'raided with a patient inside' they said. West Midlands Police have not commented on these claims. But a spokesperson confirmed they were investigating 'disorder' believed to be linked to the stabbing.
A force spokesman said "We are investigating after a teenager was stabbed in Bordesley Green, Birmingham yesterday (Saturday). We were called to reports of a stabbing in Pretoria Road at around 3.30pm.
A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a stable condition. An investigation is underway to establish the details.
